An Exposition of Kant’s, Arendt’s, and Mill’s Moral...

An Exposition of Kant’s, Arendt’s, and Mill’s Moral Philosophy Immanuel Kant adheres to Deontological ethics. His theory offers a view of morality based on the principle of good will and duty. According to him, people can perform good actions solely by good intentions without any considerations to consequences. In addition, one must follow the laws and the categorical imperative in order to act in accordance with and from duty. Several other philosophers such as Hannah Arendt discuss Kant’s moral philosophy. In her case study: â€Å"The Accused and Duties of a Law-Abiding Citizen†, Arendt examines how Adolf Eichmann’s actions conformed to Kant’s moral precepts but also how they ran of afoul to his conception of duty. In contrast, John Stuart†¦show more content†¦Kant’s supreme principle of morality is also based on reason. According to him, acting on principle signifies that we should do something simply because it is the right thing to do. In addition, he argues that the morality of an act depends on a person’s intentions. A moral act is one done for the right reasons, even if it has bad consequences or it is not in the agent’s best interest. In other words, the highest function of reason is to establish good will, not happiness (Kant, P.96). In his view of morality, self-interest and duty come into conflict since performing one’s duty does not necessarily make someone or others happy. In fact, being ethical often hurts. Overall, happiness plays almost no role in Kant’s morality. In his opinion, a good will is not good because it tries to promote some good end. Firstly, a good will is always good, good unconditionally, and never in any way bad. Secondly, all other goods, for instance, gifts of nature or fortune, are good only conditionally and are worthless or even bad when the relevant conditions are not satisfied. Lastly, the goodness of any conditioned good depends on it being combined with a good will. This concept of a will estimable in itself an d good without regard to any further end is captured in Kant’s first proposition: Only an act done from duty has moral worth (Kant, P.98). Having a good will is the condition to be satisfied for any other good

The Correlation Between Self Efficacy And Specific Aspects...

The survey results would be analyzed to discover any correlations between the three sections. I would correlate each of the demographic factors to the self-efficacy score to determine if any patterns emerge indicating that self-efficacy has an impact on lifestyle and experiences outside of abuse, or conversely, whether lifestyle has an impact on self-efficacy. This survey would be too limited to distinguish which is driving the other, except to say that a relationship of some kind exists, and that could provide a jumping-off point for future research. I would also correlate each participant’s self-efficacy score to the scores from the biographical area as subdivided into these categories: total number of incidents, past offender against†¦show more content†¦To understand the variation in responses, I would identify the measures of dispersion for self-efficacy scores and each of the maltreatment subcategories (past and present, victim, and offender against minor and against partner incidents). Discussion Needless to say, this survey would in no way provide conclusive information regarding how to break the cycle of violence. It would, however, provide insight into the connection that may exist between a person’s level of self-efficacy and their experience of abuse, both as victim and perpetrator. This would be extremely beneficial to anyone involved in assisting abuse victims because it would provide the knowledge and motivation to help clients develop self-efficacy, thereby arming them with at least one of the requisite tools to safeguard them against becoming a victim or offender. My hope is that by enhancing victims’ self-efficacy, future generations can be spared because victims will go forward making healthier choices than did their predecessors. That is assuming, of course, that my hypothesis is correct, and a high level of self-efficacy is correlated to low involvement in the cycle of violence. Bandura, A. (1994). Self-efficacy. The Nature of Romantic Love in Shakespeare Free Essays

The Nature of Romantic Love in Shakespeare’s As You Like It The Shakespearean comedy As You Like It, discusses the nature of love through the stories of four couples that demonstrate a variety of love situations. All of the couples in As You Like It exhibit some elements of ridiculous Infatuation as well as elements of genuine connection in their relationships. This makes it possible to view love on all accounts as either genuine or ridiculous. We will write a custom essay sample on The Nature of Romantic Love in Shakespeare or any similar topic only for you Order Now The reader Is able to decide how they would Ilke to view the love stories In the play. In particular, the relationship between Silvius and Phoebe demonstrates the options that the reader has in viewing the nature of love in As You Like It. Silvius goes through a transformation of character, subtle as It may be. In the beginning, he is pining over Phoebe and seems to believe that his enduring the pain of her rejection Is a reality of love. He acts desperately to try to win her over and forgets to respect himself in the process, When Phoebe has professed her love for Ganymede over him, he expresses that love is made of â€Å"sighs and tears† (V, ‘i, 88). Proving his foolish confusion of angst and infatuation with genuine love. But In his next sentence he says love is about â€Å"faith and service† (V, it, 93). So while Silvius has some very misguided thoughts about love, he seems to have some real understanding of what it Is. His true dedication and understanding of his emotions seems to suggest that he may be able to have a successful relationship, but he is certainly toeing the line of belief and delusion by refusing to let Phoebe go. Phoebe presents a slightly more interesting transition than her partner. Phoebe adamantly efuses a well-suited prospect for no apparent reason. Silvius Is clearly passionate about Phoebe. He is persistent and unrelenting; he does not doubt his own love. However, Phoebe loves Ganymede and has to deal with the disappointment of not being able to marry him. Through this, she may be able to relate to Silvius, whom had to accept the constant disappointments she gave him. When the truth about Ganymede becomes apparent to her, she tells Silvius â€Å"thy faith my fancy to thee doth combine† (V, iv, 155). She seems to change her perspective and begin to view Silvius’ ersistence as commitment rather than desperation. The main problem with their relationship is that Phoebe would not have him, but In the end she does (even if she was tricked into D. So with that challenge surpassed, maybe they can begin to develop a healthy relationship. Although Silvius begins as a desperate character who cannot make a rational decision of self-preservation to stop loving the girl who will not have him. Phoebe has no reason to refuse Silvius, but one may speculate that she does it to feel more powerful. She emotionally abuses Silvius, but is it possible that she changes when she realizes how foolish she was to fall for Ganymede. This caused her to change her views on love and accept Silvius’s commitment. Ridiculousness is not difficult to find in Silvius and Phoebe’s relationship. On the other hand, it can be argued the couple has something genuine at the foundation of their connection, so they may be able to have a successful marriage. Silvius and Phoebe’s relationship is a great example of a t Of2 situation In wnlcn tne reader or aualence. How to cite The Nature of Romantic Love in Shakespeare, Papers

Essential Writing Child Abuse

Question: Discuss about theEssential Writingfor Child Abuse. Answer: Introduction Child abuse is a menace which is gradually devouring different societies across the globe in different ways. It is such an evil, which, if not combated, can put the future of children in both developed and developing nations at stake. Child abuse should be considered as a serious crime and stringent laws should be implemented and enacted in order to put the abusers behind the bars. There are several reasons why child abuse should be condemned on a universal basis. Child abuse is when a parent or caregiver, whether through action or failing to act, causes injury, death, emotional harm or risk of serious harm to a child. There are many forms of child maltreatment, including neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, exploitation and emotional abuse. It can be quite pathetic to learn that in the United States alone, about 28.3% of adults report to have been physically abused as a child (Shore, Conte, 2016). Physical abuse is one of the heinous forms of child abuse in which either parents or caregivers cause non-accidental physical injury to a child. But children are not only physically abused; they are abused sexually too. Sexual child abuse is one of the most condemnable forms of crime, which should be considered as an epidemic, which is spreading throughout the globe. Whenever an adult uses a child for sexual gratification, the child becomes victim of sexual abuse. Children are more vulnerable to sexual abuse due to their incapability to resist th e force or intention of perverted adults who want to use them as the source of appeasing their sexual desires. It can be shocking to learn that in the United States alone about 20.7% adults reports of being sexually abused as a child (Louwers et al., 2012). Children are not only physically or sexually abused; myriads of reports have been lodged mentioning about the psychological abuse of children. Emotional and psychological child abuse may be defined as those behaviors or actions that are committed by parents, caregivers, or by someone else which render negative mental impact on a child (Carey, 2015). There are different forms of psychological abuse which the child victim may experience. Such forms include, but are not limited to, name calling, insult, threat, coercion, application of force for witnessing either physical or emotional abuse of another, aversion towards restricting children from using illegal drugs, etc (McCrory, De Brito Viding, 2012). Child neglect is yet another form of child abuse which may be even equated to the crime of child psychological/emotional abuse. It must be taken into account that, Neglect is the ongoing failure to meet a childs basic needs and is the most common form of child abuse (Ashenden, 2016). Child neglect may take different forms, but every form is heinous, and there must be adequate laws to punish those who intentionally neglect children and thereby, put their wellbeing at stake. Some children, as victims of abuse, experience neglect in the form of physical neglect. In such cases children are not provided with their basic needs, including the need of having food, clothing, or shelter. Such voids compromise the safety and security of children in a thorough manner. In myriads of developing nations, a good number of children are victimized by the menace of educational neglect in which especially girl children are not given adequate scope to gain education. Then there is emotional neglect in wh ich a child becomes the victim of humiliation, intimidation, isolation, and ignorance. Moreover, it can be shocking to learn that some children also become the victim of medical neglect. In such cases the victims are not provided appropriate health care and such denial encompass dental care and basic medical care (Shore Conte, 2016) Every child needs some basic things in order to flourish in life. It is the duty and responsibility of parents, caregivers, and significant others to help every child to grow in a normal way (Lewis et al., 2016). Child abuse is one of the greatest hindrances in the way of normal growth and development of a child. It is a curse that has the potential to ruin the entire life of a child as every abused child has the tendency to carry the curse to the future course of life. Hence, child abuse should be stringently dealt with, and child abusers should not only be condemned but punished in such a way that it renders a deterrent effect on potential abusers. (C) The plot. Unless specifically address the content, in a nutshell we can say that this is a novel about a girl with a clear manic-depressive state. The author is very accurately described within this state. In the plot, clearly visible triad Krepellina abnormally low, melancholy mood, mental retardation and physical retardation. Intelligence Veronica saved, so suicidal she prepares carefully considering and weighing every step. Like a heroine from the inside devours depression. Realism has happened helps, if not try on, or at least believe in the described. The second advantage of heroes. text. Yes, I will agree with all opponents of the author is that the language of the narrative, indeed, as simple as possible. On the one hand it is a minus, though it can be slightly wrapped, heavier. But on the other such a serious topic is extremely easy to understand, you can bring only the use of simple, basic words. Coelho outlined Villete and its residents so that everyone can submit this separate world. Coelho true to himself and his style. And here he does not change his style. Open finals, the most happy and at the same time, far-fetched. Of course, none of the characters will not be able to get rid of their ailments. Research Proposal on Inhalants and Children

Research Proposal on Inhalants and Children Research Proposal on Inhalants and Children SECTION 1 INTRODUCTION This paper contains a proposal on the research about the inhalants usage and its problem and how it affects children. The research question to be answered is why are children the most vulnerable group because they are the most affected by the usage of the inhalants? In many societies inhalants have been affecting the young children and not the old people in the society. There are many reasons as to why the children engage in the usage of the inhalants. These reasons can be defined through many ways. Inhalants are commonly used by the teens that later graduate and begin using other forms of hard drugs in the society. The reason is because they are readily available in the societies. THE LITERATURE REVIEW The research paper should be based on the analysis of different societies and why they engage in the usage of the inhalants. There are different numbers of products which are used at home and in the social settings which are commonly known as the inhalants. These products affect thinking capacities of the children and their social lives in the real sense. Most of the inhalants which are used today entail of products which are used on daily basis such as the paints, glue, fluid used for cooking, butane, gasoline, shoe polish and aerosols. These are the products which are readily found in the homes and which affect the social lives of the children. As a matter of fact, the children abuse the inhalants without the knowledge that these drugs have an effect in their lives. The literature review should also be able to cover the predisposing factors which lead the young children to abuse the drugs. Some of the reasons why the young children engage in the usage of the drugs include the peer pressure in their homes, influence from parents who abuse other types of drugs and also stress. These factors should be covered in the research paper and also be analyzed in a sequential manner so as to enhance the education of the drug involvement by the young children. As a matter of fact, inhalant abuse has social, cultures and spiritual impact to the users. The users are generally the children and they are later affected in their lives. Therefore, the parents have the mandate to educate their children so as to prevent them from engaging in life threatening activities. It is also a matter of general concern to the rest of the society. SPECIFIC POSITION The specific position of the research should be geared towards helping the children to understand that drugs are not important part of their social lives. The paper should also contain measures which are meant to ensure that the children have been deterred from the usage of the drugs. Some of the measures which are mentioned include the ability to be educated by their parents at homes and both in their schools. Risk factors which lead the children to abuse the inhalants should also be mentioned in this section. This is because risk factors contribute a lot in affection of the social and the long term usage of the inhalants. CONCLUSION The conclusion part should contain the general summary of the paper in terms of the negative impact of the drug usage. It is a common knowledge that the usage of the inhalants affects the normal behavior of a person and also extends to their health. This should be taught to the children so as to prevent them from being engaged in the usage of the inhalants. Inhalant abuse can expose a person to several complications which include interference to ones social wellbeing. One loses family and friends as they begin to indulge into inhalant abuse. This should also be prevented so as to protect the children from using the drugs. To sum up, the position of the researcher on inhalant abuse should also be highlighted in this part. SECTION TWO In this section of the research paper, the literature review on the usage of the inhalants shall be analyzed in a deeper context. There are three subheadings which shall be covered in this section; one of the headings is the characteristics of the abusers, their dependency and the patterns in which the children use to abuse the inhalants in the society. In order to write this information several articles have been summarized to come up with a logical conclusion. This enhances the general view of the inhalant usage in the society. Most of the findings in the research paper will come to a logical conclusion that if inhalant usage has been tamed at an early stage, it can be prevented and this will ensure that there is a society which is free from the inhalant abuse and usage in the society. USAGE PATTERNS There are many ways and patterns which are used by young children so as to get engaged in the usage of the inhalants. Some of the patterns include the usage of the inhalants in the social situations. These social situations include the peer influence between the ages of 6 to 14. Nevertheless, transient isolated use is another pattern which is used by the children who have a history in drug abuse. In particular, parents who have a history in the usage of drugs and tobacco, greatly influence the children to start using the inhalants. The teenage stage is the chronic stage where the children engage themselves in the usage of the inhalants. They should thus be prevented from using the drugs at an early stage because this leads to the exposure of more dangers. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ABUSERS There are many signs and symptoms which are often used to test whether a person uses an inhalant or not. Some of the characteristics which are portrayed by all the inhalant users include the foul smell caused by the usage of different chemicals. Secondly, this often affects the mouth and other critical body parts. Parents should also be careful when handling the cases of their children because signs such as loss of appetite, anxiety and development of stress are a sign that the children have engaged themselves deeper into the inhalant usage. In summation, the dependency of the children to get the drugs should also be covered. Due to the basic fact that inhalants are found at home, they are often free. This is because children can have an easy access to them and thus use them without their parent’s knowledge. In addition, children often get the inhalants from their parents and their friends. Children should be deterred from the usage of the drugs so as to ensure that they are safe. This also answers the basic question why are the children the most vulnerable group. The reason is simple, they usually get the drugs freely. Leadership - Essay Example More than a month ago, US President Barrack Obama announced to the world that Osama bin Laden, leader of al Qaeda network, was killed in a blitzerg cost-efficient attack done by US soldiers within the military compound of Pakistan. US certainly have managed it with diplomatic channels who dealt with internal intricacies to handle outcomes to certainly thread in a value-based leadership’s efficacy—both in operation and in international political relations. Obama was able to model to the world that international security is essential by perceiving it as a benefit with hope to restore people’s confidence to enjoy life free from violence. As a manager of his forces, he was able to show affective commitment, shaped perceptions at an ethical climate, provide operation or job satisfaction, achievement of goals, and inculcate sense of justice. On its econo mic aspect, its wise to account that the war against terror under Bush administration have divested billions of dollars to shoulder operational and administrative costs, communication, upgrading facilities, networking, capability-building, conflict-management, post-war reconstruction and the likes. It was too costly. Obama was able to reduce the cost of operation and risk management by managing time spent for firefight, forecasting shocks while targeting object of operation, considering all potential change
